International students in Australia, or who are thinking about studying in Australia, should check out the new safety video made by the New South Wales Police.

More than 300,000 international students are studying in NSW, and enrollments are growing at well over 10% each year.

The largest source countries for enrollments include:

  • China (over 70,000)
  • Thailand (about 20,000)
  • India (about 20,000)
  • Nepal (about 15,000)
  • Korea (about 14,000)

International students in Wollongong and other volunteers worked with NSW police to shoot the 15 minute video.

The video covers important safety and crime prevention issues, including the role of the police and how to identify them, individual rights and responsibilities, plus safety tips for swimming, walking alone at night, securing property and how to access interpreters.
