A Filipino international student studying in New Zealand has drowned while swimming at Whangarei Falls, north of Auckland.
Whangārei Falls is a popular summer swimming spot and tourist attraction.
Friends who were with the student said he was studying in Auckland but had traveled to Whangārei for a short break.
